And it’s finally over. Chinese New Year, the welcoming of The Horse into the calendar year, the Lunar New Year, Lantern Day they have all passed and life is back to normal. Well, almost.

The beautiful lanterns that decorated Longtian Park for CNY, a splash of colors in the white sky.
Beijing has had its usual bout of pollution so combined with the dry brutal cold, most Belle du Jour are hibernating making it more challenging to catch them « au naturel ».

One of the most charming artifacts from the Lunar festival street vendors: artificial singing birds.
Red is China’s color. During the Spring Festival (yes, that time of the year has many names) red is absolutely everywhere. China’s red Flags are flapping into white skies, lanterns, scarves and enveloppes are given to one and all. Red, symbol of joy and abundance is everywhere.

Pink is a ‘desaturated’ red and after days and days looking in an empty and cold city I was lucky to cross path with a pretty Belle du Jour, all in Pink, all smile and quite elegant in her variations on red.

Lovely in Pink at the Park View Green Mall.
When the outside air is cold and probably unsafe to breathe, the only refuge is shopping. Indoors.

I loved the contrast of the girly coat and Cartier ladylike bag.

Belle du Jour
After days of walking about seeing NO ONE stylish… Finally. Light at the end of the tunnel. Impeccable in black and white, Givenchy bag, high tops and a pretty smile. Perfect. Belle du Jour.
Thank you Tian.

Simple chic. Belle du Jour
